Questions and Answers About Plan B
1. How much does Plan B cost?
Plan B costs absolutely nothing to download and install on your phone. It does use data, so if you go over your data limits while using the app you will have to pony up some cash for using it. All of that will depend on the data plan you have and how much of it you used before needing Plan B.
2. What do Android Market users think about Plan B?
It seems to be a pretty well received app. At the time of this writing it has a 4.4 star review out of 1431 reviewers. With anywhere between 100,000 and 500,000 downloads. This is a review rate from around 1.4% to .2% of its users.
3. What devices is Plan B available on?
Plan B requires Android 2.0 or higher to work. Since Android 2.0 came out near the end of 2009 it is very likely that your phone is going to be compatible with this app. If it wasn’t when you first bought it then it is probable that a subsequent update gave your phone Android 2.0 or higher.
4. How do I get Plan B to tell me the phones location after I install it?
The first location notification is done automatically after the app is downloaded and usually gets you 3-5 emails in your inbox. If you want to get another location from your cell phone after the app is already installed then you will need to text the phone with the word “locate” from another cell phone. For more info see how to use Plan B.
5. Does Plan B pose a significant battery drain on my phone?
The answer is yes and no. If you are doing locates all the time then you will see a significant drain on your battery life. If you just install the program and just do one series of locates then you don’t have much to worry about in terms of battery usage. A good way to think about it is that the more you track the phone with GPS the more battery you are going to use. You can check out our Plan B battery test for more info.
6. Is Plan B available on iPhone, Blackberry, or Windows Mobile?
